REVOLUTION shows a 360° view of a straight movement through a tunnel.
At the ends of the architectural structure the camera turns periodically
and starts moving into the opposite direction. The simultaneous visibility
of all horizontal directions of the movement, the periodical repetition of
the movement into the tunnel and out of the tunnel combined with a slight
repositioning of the cameras axis sum up to a pretty comprehensive displacement
of the viewer.
The video could be considered as a two dimensional representation of the "Klein Bottle".

PRODUCTION
|
The movie consists of 85 frames. Each of them represents a 360 degree view of the site.
Each view was rendered out of 16 single digital photo shots.
To capture the frames I shot one panorama image each 50cm while passing
through the tunnel. The whole capturing process took me 3 nights.
The 360 degree frames were then manipulated in Photoshop and animated in After Effects.
In AFX I also animated the camera axis to achieve the panning effect
on the turning points of the movement.
As I shot all footage in high resolution the final animation in full size covers 12 PAL
monitors standing in a row.
|
To come up with a smooth velocity I used a sinus function to define the
duration of visibility of each image.
